Cisco Firepower PLR Licensing Introduction

Cisco Firepower PLR Licensing Introduction

Next Generation Firewall - NGFW

The Cisco Firepower (FPR) is the Next-Generation of Cisco Firewall (NGFW) which is the industry’s first threat-focused NGFW. These series firewalls provide comprehensive, unified policy management of firewall functions, application control, threat prevention, and advanced malware protection from the network to the endpoint.

You can use Cisco smart software manager website and your smart account to generate a token for your device’s registration. Also, you can use license permanent reservation (Cisco PLR) feature in order to activate all premium features on your device without using an Internet connection. Generally, Cisco Secure Firewall licensing can be used in highly-secure environments which outside connections are not allowed.

Please note the SFR (Software Firepower Modules) modules on the Cisco ASA firewalls does not support smart licensing and to activate those, you need PAK licenses. This introduction is only for Cisco Firepower hardware devices.
