The Cisco Unity Connection is the Cisco’s robust unified messaging in voice mail solution. It improves collaboration and adds value to organizations in three points. First, it provides unparalleled flexibility in how users are going to get their messages, second, it is easy to deployed and third, it offers reliability, security and scalability that is expected from market leading provider.

The fast and flexible users access provides the ability to check the messages quickly and easily. The Cisco CUC ensures that by providing access to the applications and devices that is being used daily such as phone, email, laptop, IM client or browser.

Additionally, it provides format flexibility that can take voice commands using for handsfree management, speech to text transcription and video greetings with the simple and cost-effective administration management. Cisco Unity Connection can be deployed on Cisco UCS or on hardware that meets minimum specifications such as servers and blades manufactured by IBM and HP.

As an extension, Cisco CUC offers numerous deployment options that can be mixed and matched in the individual user level. CUC can be managed by Cisco Prime Collaboration that’s the single unified manger (Call Manager) that mange entire Cisco’s voice and video deployments which provides secure and easy deployment.

With Cisco Unity Connection a large distributed data center deployment, high availability configurations, remote sites survivability, scalability up to 20,000 users per server and third-party mixed IP-phone systems can be supported. For the security conscious, it includes access control policies, secure messaging, legal hold message engine and delectation policies.

CUC provides quick efficient access to the messages, easy management and simplicity for IT managers and peace of mind for organizations. Cisco Unity Connection runs on a virtualized server and supports virtualization on Fibre Channel, Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE), SCSI over IP (iSCSI), and Network File Storage (NFS) SANs.

Cisco SpeechView

SpeechView (speech-to-text) feature of the Cisco Unity Connection unified messaging solution handles security for voice message transcriptions. You will learn about:

• Security during message transport
• Security measures in effect with the third-party external transcription service

SpeechView converts voice messages to text and delivers the text version of the voice message to your email inbox, allowing you to read your voice messages and take immediate action. The application is a feature of Cisco Unity Connection, so the original audio version of each voice message remains available to you anywhere, anytime.

Cisco CUC License 

For Cisco Unify Connection licensing below options are available:  

• CUC Essential License: This license is a User Connect License (UCL) type that covers call control for a single essential-level phone, such as a 3905, 6901 or analog device. 
• CUC Basic License: This license is a UCL type that covers IM/Presence and call control for a single basic-level phone, such as a 6921 or 6911, or essential-level phone. 
• CUC Enhanced License: This license is a UCL type that covers all above features plus IM/Presence and call control for an enhanced-level phone, such as an E Series, 9900 or 8900. 
• CUC Advanced License: This license is a UCL type that covers IM/Presence and call control for up to two of the following devices: advanced-level phone, such as a Cius, EX Series or Jabber Desktop Client, enhanced level phone, basic-level phone, or essential-level phone. 

• CUWL Standard: Cisco Unified Workspace Standard Licensing covers IM/Presence and call control for up to two of the following devices with essential to advanced features. 
• CUWL Premium: This license covers IM/Presence and call control for up to six phones of any model including Jabber Mobile Client. 
• CUWL Professional: This license covers IM/Presence and call control for up to ten phones of any model including Jabber Mobile Client. 
• CUC Telepresence Room license: This license type covers a single telepresence device and a single enhanced-level phone, such as an E Series, 9900 or 8900, basic-level phone or essential-level phone. 

Note: The unused Device License Units (DLUs) available for the Unified CM servers.
