The Cisco Catalyst 8200 powered by Cisco IOS XE SD-WAN Software delivers Cisco’s secure and cloud-scale SD-WAN solution for the small branches. The Catalyst 8200 platforms enhance network performance and integrated SD-WAN Services along with flexibility to deliver security and networking services together from the cloud or on premises.

The Catalyst 8200 series provides numerous interface options to choose from with backward compatibility to existing WAN, LAN and voice modules. Also, Cisco IOS XE supports fully programmable software architecture and API support makes these platforms can facilitate automation at scale to achieve zero-touch IT capability while migrating workloads to the cloud.

The Catalyst 8200 Series Edge Platforms also come with Trustworthy Solutions 2.0 infrastructure that protects the platforms against threats and vulnerabilities by an advanced integrity verification and remediation of threats. The device needs to be registered first with the Cisco Catalyst 8200 license.

Small and medium-sized enterprise branch offices can use these platforms for at optimal price/performance with integrated SD-WAN services.

Models and Specifications

The C8200-1N-4T Edge Platforms are 1RU form factor devices which use an Intel x86 CPU with 8GB memory and 8GB DRAM default and support up to 1Gbs IPSec traffic and 4x1G port density built-in Ethernet WAN ports.

The C8200L-1N-4T Edge Platforms are 1RU form factor devices which use an Intel x86 CPU with 4GB memory and 8GB DRAM default and support up to 500Mbs IPSec traffic and 4x1G port density built-in Ethernet WAN ports.

Note: Both the Catalyst 8200 models ships with default 16G M.2 USB for SD-WAN logging and additional storage on the platform. It can be upgraded to 32G M.2 USB and 600G M.2 Non-Volatile Memory Express (NVMe).

Cisco Catalyst 8200 License

About Cisco Catalyst 8200 license, smart licensing is supported on devices running on Cisco autonomous mode (non SD-WAN), and all product instances could be registered using a token generated from Cisco smart software management website. Also, in highly secure environments, by using a Cisco Catalyst 8200 PLR license, all premier features would be activated permanently and without the Internet connection to the CSSM website. 

Moreover, for IOS XE SD-WAN, Cisco DNA and PnP licenses should be used for leveraging crypto capabilities. Note that, on Cisco controller mode (SD-WAN), smart licenses are not supported.
