Cisco Catalyst 8300 with Cisco IOS XE SD-WAN Software provides secure cloud-scale SD-WAN solution for the branch. The Catalyst 8300 Series is supposed to bring high performance and integrated SD-WAN Services along with flexibility. This product enables higher WAN port density and a redundant power supply capability and supports a wide range of existing WAN, LAN, voice, and compute modules options to choose from. Powered by Cisco IOS XE, fully programmable software architecture and API support, these platforms can facilitate automation at scale to achieve zero-touch IT capability while migrating workloads to the cloud.
Catalyst 8300 Series Edge Platforms also come with Trustworthy Solutions 2.0 infrastructure that secures the platforms against threats and vulnerabilities with integrity verification and remediation of threats. Please note all mentioned features would be activated after product’s registration with Cisco Catalyst 8300 license. The Catalyst 8300 Series Edge Platforms are well suited for medium-sized and large enterprise branch offices for high WAN IPSec performance with integrated SD-WAN services.
The C8300-2N2S-4T2X platform supports 2 SM and 2 NIM slots and 2 x 10-Gigabit Ethernet and 4×1-Gigabit Ethernet ports (C8300 2RU w/ 10G WAN). This platform provides up to 18Gbps SD-WAN IPsec throughput and 6000 SD-WAN overlay tunnels scale.
The C8300-2N2S-6T platform supports 2 SM and 2 NIM slots and 6×1-Gigabit Ethernet ports (C8300 2RU w/ 1G WAN). This platform provides up to 1.9Gbps SD-WAN IPsec throughput and 6000 SD-WAN overlay tunnels scale.
The C8300-1N1S-4T2X platform supports 1 SM slot and 1 NIM slot and 2 x 10-Gigabit Ethernet and 4×1-Gigabit Ethernet ports (C8300 1RU w/ 10G WAN). This platform provides up to 15Gbps SD-WAN IPsec throughput and 6000 SD-WAN overlay tunnels scale.
The C8300-1N1S-6T platform supports 1 SM slot and 1 NIM slot and 6×1-Gigabit Ethernet ports (C8300 1RU w/ 1G WAN). This platform provides up to 1.9Gbps SD-WAN IPsec throughput and 6000 SD-WAN overlay tunnels scale.
About the Cisco Catalyst 8300 license, these platforms can be licensed in two different mode. For devices that are running in Cisco autonomous mode (non SD-WAN), like other Catalyst series, Cisco smart licensing is supported. All product instances would be registered, using Cisco Network Essentials or Advantage, after connecting to the Cisco smart software management website.
Also, for secure datacenters that outer connection is not permitted; customers can apply Cisco Catalyst 8300 PLR licenses to activate all premier features permanently. Finally, automation and SDN capabilities could be activated leveraging the Cisco DNA licenses.
In another hand, running in the Cisco controller mode (SD-WAN), customers should purchase specific plug and play and DNA licenses to enable the needed crypto performance on these devices.
Note: Smart licenses are not supported in controller mode and all entitlements should be enforced using DNA subscriptions.
